Even More Less Certain!!

So last year the congress and President passed a bill to raise the debt ceiling, keep the Bush Tax Cuts, and begin the difficult process of cutting spending by creating a “super-committee” to come up with the cuts otherwise we would go through a process called sequestration. A process that was so scary that it would force the elected officials make the changes necessary to make it all work.

Guess What?

It didn’t work!!

Now the talking heads in Washington are no closer to a deal, we are no closer to permanent tax reform, no closer to spending reform, no closer to a balanced budget, no closer to avoiding sequestration, and no closer to anything that even closely resembles and working government.

Want proof? How about this, as of today the federal government has not passed a budget in 1341 days!! That’s right, the U.S. Government has not had a budget passed and signed into law since 2009….It leaves one speechless doesn’t it. NOT ME!!

It completely ticks me off. For the first time ever, after the last few decades of politicians in Washington they are going to leave the future of this country in worse shape than they found it. Are they seriously going to tell us that they can’t find cuts that will save $1.5 trillion over the next decade? The fact is we have to cut the budget and spending in a manner that will balance the budget immediately.

Do we seriously think we can slowly lower spending and that will save it all? Hell no we can’t.

We have to balance the budget NOW, not in the next decade but NOW!!!!

The United States Government takes in roughly $2.1 trillion a year in taxes yet still finds a way to spend $3.5 trillion plus a year and without a budget that number will grow as the spending is allowed to increase because the congress and President signed in a law allowing the spending to grow a little each year making the budget more of an unnecessary guideline rather than a hard-line rule to govern spending that it should be.

“Govern”….sounds like a word that ought to mean something in Washington, D.C. – See the Irony?

But seriously, $2.1 trillion, how can that not be enough to govern the country? It sure seems like it should be but maybe it’s not enough because too many of us in the public who complain don’t actually take the time to pay attention and keep an eye on their elected officials and see how they are doing.

Think your voice doesn’t matter, get with a few friends and call your congressman or send him a letter that you also post on Facebook, or Twitter, or some other social network. Let everyone see what you said to him and then promise to post their response, or lack thereof, and see if they don’t respond.

Today the Senate has come up with a proposal to keep the taxes they are for most Americans but doesn’t address anything else at all. They just want to address the taxes but keep spending where it is – WORNG ANSWER!!

And many of those in the Senate seem good with a lot of it but are they? And if they are let’s get an explanation for it – NOW! This agreement the senate leaders are discussing will just pass the buck down the road and nothing will get done. The national debt will increase and our future will be even more less certain.

Sequestration was supposed to force the leaders in Washington to reform taxes, lower spending, and pass a budget; instead, the only thing that seems to get passed is, once again, the BUCK!!

We must have a balanced budget. Federal government must do their job and nothing more. Congressional leaders should lead for the betterment of the country and not the betterment of their party. If they governed with the future of this nation in the forefront then elections would take care of themselves. Instead they all govern with the next election in mind.

I could care less with the political parties; I care about my children and what the future holds for them. Those in Washington are showing how little they are truly worried about their children and grand-children’s future and more about their own.

I need a breath of air!!

Tomorrow is the Day!

After over a year of hard work, tomorrow is the day when we can celebrate a little as we will have a swearing-in for those taking office here in Milam County. So come on out to the Milam County Courthouse at 10:00am in the District Court Room as our candidates will be sworn-in giving Milam County 14 Republicans holding local office!!

I remember three years ago several folks (actually lots of folks) telling me that we were crazy for setting out to create a Republican Revolution here in Milam County and now here we are with a majority of Republicans in local office and a GOP majority on the County Commissioners Court – AWESOME!

So come on out tomorrow morning, yes I know it is New Year’s Day and there are a lot of things going on, but come on out tomorrow morning to give our candidates some more support and to congratulate them on their victories and thank them for their efforts to serve us all. I know I am always amazed at the time and energy involved with the candidates running for office but the amount of time and efforts they put into the job once elected is even more impressive. So come help them enjoy their day tomorrow.

There will be no formal party following the swearing-in but many of us will be gathering at the Cameron Country Club to get some lunch following the ceremony so please feel free to join us!!

Syria is Signaling the END!

Most folks have shown little care about the current civil war in Syria, it has worried me mightily. We must pay attention now.

For over a year we have heard the Obama Regime make one strong but ineffective statement on Syria after another. Rather than take the lead and take a real stand that the world will respect, our leadership in Washington has kicked the ball down the road and not taken care of an issue that is a real national defense crisis for America…FOR ALL OF US!!

Tonight word has come out of Damascus (the capital of Syria) saying that Syrian President Assad has armed warheads with weaponized Sarin gas. For those who do not know, Sarin gas is one of the scariest chemical weapons ever created by man. It is 500 times more deadly than Cyanide and can kill a man in less than ONE MINUTE!

That’s right, for over a year we have drawn lines in the sand, attempted to set up various sanctions that the UN Security Council has vetoed, and accomplished exactly NOTHING on this issue. And when I say we, I mean the Obama Administration including Secretary of State Clinton and UN Ambassador Susan Rice.

Now, the leadership of the flailing Syrian government has armed their troops with one of the deadliest substances ever created. This regime has been involved in terrorism throughout the Middle East and the world so it is not out of the realm of possibility that it could use these weapons as a last strike against any and all of Assad’s former allies and enemies including those in Lebanon, Israel, Jordan, Turkey as well as any number of other nearby targets. But while the use of these weapons is unconscionable to think of, what might be worse is who could get a hold of the unused cache of Sarin weapons that might be left over following the end of this war.

Think this is an unreal fear to have, well consider this; during the Libyan civil war there were multitudes of weapons given to Libyan rebels and where are they now? I don’t know, you don’t know, and guess what, no one else knows either – including the Obama Administration. So once the Syrian civil war is over and these Sarin weapons are left outstanding, anyone have any idea whose hands they might end up in? Neither does anyone else.

The only difference between me and the government is I think Americans should know about it and the Obama administration wants to keeps it as hidden as possible, “Nothing here to see….Move along!!”

This is one of the times when the U.S. Military is needed to be the “Big Stick” President Roosevelt talked about. Not to end another county’s civil war, but to keep Americans safe. We don’t need another failed nation-building project, we need to show the world that when we “Speak Softly” and say simmer down that’s what we mean and that any perceived threat will bring out the “Big Stick!”

Elections Do Have Consequences!!

I received an email containing this message and felt it was too interesting not to share following the Election Day results. I guess the interesting thing for me is the fact that the majority of Americans think the country is on the wrong track yet we as a nation voted the keep the status quo in both the Executive and Legislative branches of government. With that said think about this.

Can't get a job after graduation, you own it.
Sky rocketing energy prices due to Obama's EPA shutting down the energy producing states, you own it.

A volatile border with Mexico, you own it.
Trouble getting good health care, you own it.
Higher health insurance costs and health care costs, you own it.
No budget, you own it.
Our allies mistrust, you own it.
Another trillion of debt, you own it.
More Benghazi situations, you own it.
No one willing to join the military, you own it.
Trouble getting a loan to buy a home, you own it.
More dependency on food stamps, you own it.
Trouble finding good employment, you own it.
Several part time jobs instead of a good job, you own it.
A World Government, you own it.
The UN governing the United States instead of ourselves, you own it.
A Senate that will not bring any legislation to the table rather it is "Dead on Arrival", you own it.
China controlling our world trade and trampling all over us, you own it.
Loss of our freedoms as we have known it in the past, you own it.
A dictatorship instead of a democracy that follows the Constitution, you own it.

President George Bush is out of it now and there is not another good man for you to vilify and lie about.
In a way, I am relieved that another good man will not be blamed when it was impossible to clean up this mess you voted for.

New Rant for Y’all

Well I’m sitting here watching the first presidential debate and I thought I would just hit you with a short little rant!!

1.       Just a short note on taxes, you can raise more money by building a larger tax base far easier than by raising taxes – PERIOD. You can raise taxes on businesses, and small business owners but that just prevents them from hiring new people who in turn will be a bigger drain on government entitlements. So if you keep taxes low and allow those business owners to take that money and invest it, then they will hire new employees who will pay taxes thereby growing the tax base by generating more revenue in businesses and with more people earning an income instead of receiving entitlements.

2.       Yes we need regulations in the marketplace; but when they are so strict that they limit business at every step of the way, then they are too restrictive. Currently bureaucratic government regulatory efforts are stifling new business. This must change!!

3.       In the world of the never-ending nightmare, United States Secretary of State Hilary Clinton was once again shown to be running an ill-prepared-to-handle-the-world organization as exposed by the attack on the consulate in Benghazi. It seems that the company in charge of the security there (Blue Mountain Libya) could not get the support and aide from their parent company (Blue Mountain UK) and requested help from a third party but the state Department’s Contract Officer would not approve that and said the threat was not that bad. Now they will not let the FBI in to investigate the scene because they said it was too dangerous – imagine that!!

4.     When will liberals understand that the states are better prepared to handle what goes on with programs that serve their constituents more than the federal government? EXAMPLE…..I doubt the cost of living is the same in Texas as it is in Massachusetts. My family and I can live comfortable on $100,000.00 a year in Texas, but I bet I would be struggling in Boston. The same plan that will work in Massachusetts WILL NOT work for the entire nation as a whole. Oh and by the way, the plan in Massachusetts did not raise taxes; ObamaCare (did you know Microsoft Word autocorrects for ObamaCare) has at least 22 new taxes in it.

5.       By the way, while we keep talking about comprehensive bills addressing issues like medical care, immigration, energy, taxes, and others; the true way to address them is by individual bills that address specific issues, not one all encompassing, comprehensive bill. There has NEVER been a successful Comprehensive bill ever!!

Well that’s it for right now. I am going to watch the last 30 minutes of the debate and then take four aspirin and hit the sack before I get sick!!

Some ObamaCare Taxes for You!!

Since its inception, ObamaCare has been advertised as saving Americans money while costing the taxpayer nothing. To be honest that sounds great but how can it be? Well, to put it honestly it can’t. The President and Democrat leaders in Congress sold this to the American Public with the claim that there would be no rise in taxes but that simply is a play on words.

While it might not be paid for simply by raising income taxes, the Congressional Budget Office has made it clear that there are at least 22 new or increased taxes that will affect us all. Here is a list of five new or expanded taxes for you to consider. By the way, according to the CBO, these five taxes alone will cost the American Public a minimum of $257 billion in the next decade.

1.       ObamaCare creates a new 2.3% tax on the gross sales of all medical equipment. And that means everything from pacemakers to prosthetics to Band-Aids to medicine to operating tables to bedpans to those little bowls they put under your chin to throw-up in – EVERYTHING! Guess who will be picking up the tab for those taxes? Each and every one of us will pay for those taxes through higher prices for each of these items. Minimum Total Cost to the Taxpayer – $20 billion.

2.       Currently, out-of-pocket medical expenses can be deducted from your income tax once they reach 7.5% of your adjusted gross income. Under ObamaCare they cannot be deducted until they reach 10% of your gross adjusted income. By the way, this mainly affects senior citizens. Minimum Total Cost to the Taxpayer – $15 billion.

3.       Flexible Spending Accounts or FSA’s have always been a great way for people to save and build money to pay for everything from braces to surgery to special-needs tuition. Currently, money put into an FSA is tax-free as an incentive for people to save and use this sort of fund. Under ObamaCare only the first $2,500 would be tax-free. Minimum Total Cost to the Taxpayer – $13 billion.

4.       Under ObamaCare, Capital Gains Tax Rates for ALL AMERICANS will rise from 15% to 20% in 2013 (conveniently after the election), while dividend tax rates will go up from 15% to 39.6%. Also under the ObamaCare Surtax the top Capital Gains Rates will go to 23.8% and the top Dividend Rate will go to 43.4%. This will affect anyone with investments, retirement accounts, and any other type of nest egg. Minimum Total Cost to the Taxpayer – $123 billion.

5.       Lastly, the new ObamaCare Medicaid payroll Tax. This will affect everyone earning an income and conveniently takes affect only after the 2012 election. Minimum Total Cost to the Taxpayer – $86 billion.

 So there you go, put into simple terms these are only five of the new or expanded taxes that ObamaCare will unleash on the American Taxpayers. So next time you here the President or any of his Liberal surrogates say that ObamaCare will save the taxpayer money just take a look at these five items.

A New Rant for Y’all

Okay folks, here is a new rant for you this week. I know you’ll love it!!

1.       Campaign finance numbers are in for June and here are the results:

a.       President Obama raised $46 million and spent $58 million.

b.      Mitt Romney raised $33 million and spent $27.5 million.

Results: Even in Campaign mode President Obama works at a deficit!!

2.       Congrats to ABC News for jumping the gun and removing all doubt that they are the left-leaning news source we all knew them to be. During the Friday morning news programs ABC reporter Brian Ross tried to tie the Aurora, Colorado shooter to the Tea Party. Outstanding job in quality reporting once again from a news source that claims to be a leading player in quality news – WHATEVER!!

3.       Another congrats goes out the New York Mayor Mike Bloomberg and PBS newsman Bill Moyer who is also a New York City resident. Both have already jumped the gun calling for stricter gun-control laws; however, what neither wants to talk about is the fact that they reside in a city with arguably the strictest gun-control laws in the country and still had to confiscate over 4,000 guns last year. Most of which were taken AFTER being used in a crime which means that there are probably many more illegal firearms throughout New York City. Nice job of using a tragic event to push a liberal idea that clearly has not worked in THEIR OWN HOMETOWN!!

4.       In the world of the never-ending nightmare, United States Secretary of State Hilary Clinton was heckled and had tomatoes thrown at her motorcade on her way out of Cairo, Egypt. And all of this occurred while the Arab mob heckled her to chants of “MONICA, MONICA!!” See, even in an Arab speaking country they can still pronounce Monica correctly – imagine that!!

 Well that’s it!! Yeah I know it’s a short rant this week but I got a lot going on what with early voting for the run-off and all.

But in a moment of seriousness, I would like to say God Bless the folks in Aurora. I think I speak for most folks when I say our prayers are with you all. And God Speed Sally Ride, you were a role model for little girls and a hero to us all.
