My Newest Rant!!

I’m no longer even going to try and claim that this will be a regular feature. I will try, but there is no way I can be sure of when I will get another entry submitted. But since so many of you send me friendly pokes as to when I am going to post another Rant….well….here you go!!

1. OCCUPY THIS!! Funny how all our liberal friends were so happy about the Occupy movement. Pelosi, Obama, Biden and many more Democrats were so happy to finally have some sort of grassroots movement; then reality set in. Now it seems the Occupy movement has become the victim of its own delusional direction, or lack thereof, and a further victim of the three “D’s” otherwise known as Illegal Drugs, Idiotic Demagoguery, and Public Defecation.

2. The Super-Committee…..FAIL!! It’s not so amazing that all our federal congressmen thought the American public would believe it; it’s that they actually went through with it. Like we didn’t know what was going to happen, and not because it was necessarily a bad idea, but because there was/is NO leadership associated with it, not from the House, the Senate, nor from the White House. And who will pay for this failure? Go look in the mirror! Democrat, Republican, Socialist, Green, Libertarian, or Independent; no one should be happy with it and everyone should be requiring answers from all those involved in its creation and failure.

3. The President said recently that he is committed to stopping Iran from attaining nuclear weapons by working with Russia and China to establish new stricter sanctions. The only problem with this is that Russia and China are two of Iran’s largest, and main, trade partners. I wonder if any of the President’s advisors reminded him of that before he read his plan off the teleprompter?

4. If we want people to have more respect for the taxes they pay then let’s do away with withholding taxes and let everyone pay their taxes by writing a check to pay their monthly or quarterly taxes just like the self-employed. I think if everyone had to actually write the check and see that money actually go out of their checking account and see how much they are actually missing….well….I imagine they’d pretty much take a much closer look at just how the government spends our tax money.

Well I know this is a little short but it is late and I am pretty tired from trying to figure out what the judicial folks are going to do with our redistricting maps!!

GM Repays their loan…SORT OF?

Okay, seems like everyone has seen the ads on TV where the CEO of GM is reporting that GM has repaid all their government loans ahead of time and with interest. GM, President Obama and Vice-President Biden have been all over the press lauding GM for repaying the loans it took from the government last year. But hold on, there is a fly in the ointment that is pretty glaring.

Neil Barofsky, the Inspector General for the bailout, also known as TARP (Troubled Asset Relief Program), came forward this week and announced that GM had indeed repaid the loans, with money it received from a TARP escrow account controlled by the Treasury Department.

So let’s get this straight, rather than GM paying this loan off with monies it earned from the selling of automobiles and thereby being profitable, it used a government controlled TARP slush fund to repay a bailout loan of TARP money. Essentially, they took from one pot of TARP money and put it in another pot of TARP money to pay it off – WHAT.

Where does a person sign up to get that deal? Imagine how easy it would be to pay taxes if this held true for everyone!

Once again it looks like truth in advertising has no affect on the GM and their new advertising; nor is there any truth with senior government officials who called the repaying of these loans (with government money) a major achievement for GM and for the nation.

America owes a big thank you to Mr. Barofsky for his diligent service and honest reporting.

Today in America July 23, 2009

Here is a new slant to give Quick Points a little added shock to the system. Hopefully several points a day to give everyone something to think about. Maybe five or ten points a day.

1. Did anyone notice in last night’s “News Conference” that President Obama completely took aim at every aspect of our healthcare and law enforcement? Not one time did he even thank or show any sort of appreciation for the work of the American medical professionals – NICE!

2. He also took the time to point out that even though he knew very little about the incident, he felt the Cambridge, Mass. Police Department acted stupidly. Nice word to use to describe a situation that he admittedly knew little about. And on national TV no less – AWESOME!

3. Another special point from the Obama Hour was when the President made the case that this healthcare issue had to be taken care of as soon as possible. WHY? At a time when it appears that many Americans want some sort of healthcare reform, why not take some time and find a bill that a true majority can agree on.

4. Why is it okay for the president of the Black Chamber of Commerce to refer to Senator Barbara Boxer as “ma’am” but when a General of our Army respectfully calls her “ma’am” she jumps up on her high horse and demands he call her “Senator?”

5. Joe Biden is running around the country proclaiming that the stimulus plan is working as advertised and predicted only a few weeks after he said the country was worse off than predicted after the stimulus because conditions were worse than they had originally thought. That Makes Sense – kind of. GO-JOE-GO!!!

6. Did you know the U. S. Government has a Bureau of Public Debt? Shocking, someone should check on just what it is they do over there.
